3 Things You Need to Know and Decide When Planning an Event

Are you having a major event soon? How do you decide if you are going to do all the preparation or if you need to hire a professional food catering company? Simple. Do you think you can prepare food for more than twenty people? Have it all arranged, set it up like a professional, make sure there is no shortage of food, and have fun at the same time? If you can answer “yes” to all of these, then hats off to you. Clearly, you can handle all that and be the super woman in the kitchen that you were born to be. However, if there is even a slight doubt on your mind, you are better off paying a food catering professional to do all that for you.

Look for a catering company who is willing to work with your ideas and your budget. There are companies who want to do their own thing and are unwilling to work around a budget. They have a set of package deals that are non-negotiable. Finding one that is flexible to your budget is not that hard in especially that there are a lot of catering companies in the area.

Here are things you have to remember when it comes to food catering and hiring a professional catering company.

  • Decide whether you want to have a sit-down meal or do you want to have it buffet style. In a sit-down meal, all the food will be served to your guests without them needing to stand. You need to choose an appetizer, soup, salad, main dish and dessert. Everybody will be served the same food. In a buffet style, different types of appetizers, a salad bar, a couple of main dishes and dessert need to be set up on a long table. This is ideal if you have enough space. Remember that in a buffet, people will be lining up to get food so they need space to move around.
  • Be sure that you know the caterer’s specialty before you go ahead and close the deal. Some catering companies tell you that they are capable of serving certain types of food even if it is not their specialty. If you want to serve Italian food, for example, be sure that the catering company actually has experience serving it. Your mind would be put at ease more if you ask for a taste test before signing a contract.
  • Always plan your event ahead of time. Rushing to do all the work has never done anybody any good. Someone always forgets something and that could be disastrous. Work with your chosen food catering company and listen to their ideas as well. After all, they have been only in this business for years.
